DUI Suspect Severely Injures Spring Valley Pedestrian

Spring Valley, CA: A young Spring Valley man arrived in the hospital early in the morning on Friday, December 4, as a result of a crash caused by an alleged drunk driver.

The unidentified man, said by the authorities to be 20 years old, has serious injuries. Still, hospital staff said the man was expected to survive, and his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

The accident occurred in the early hours of the morning near State Route 125 near the neighborhood of La Presa. The driver of a 2020 Ford Fiesta, a 56-year-old woman who is also a resident of Spring Valley, struck the man as he walked to work on a nearby zone for active road work. The driver stayed at the scene until police arrived when a field sobriety test was administered, the woman was arrested on suspicion of operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

Unfortunately, such tragic occurrences happen every day across the United States. More than a quarter of all traffic deaths occur as a result of DUI, and many injuries suffered as a result of this negligent and illegal behavior. The victims of drunk drivers, when they do not lose their lives, may experience substantially altered living conditions following their recovery. DUI accident injuries can result in the loss of employment and of the ability to live an enjoyable life with effects that linger or worsen in the years following the incident.
