News: 1 killed, 2 seriously hurt in crash off I-805 near San Ysidro

SAN DIEGO, CA — A woman died early Wednesday after a crash that seriously hurt two others on Interstate 805 in San Diego’s San Ysidro area, reports CBS8.

The fatal accident happened on the I-805 southbound offramp to the westbound lanes of California Highway 905, near the U.S.-Mexico border. It was first reported at around 3:15 a.m.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a white BMW was heading southbound on the ramp when, for reasons still being investigated, it veered off the roadway and struck a tree.

First responders had to cut the vehicle’s roof off in order to extricate three occupants.

A woman succumbed to her injuries at the scene, confirmed officials.

Two other passengers suffered undisclosed injuries. No details on their conditions have been released at this time.

An investigation by the CHP remains ongoing.
