BOULEVARD, CA – A 46-year-old woman died last Saturday after she walked into oncoming traffic on the interstate and was struck, reports The San Diego Union-Tribune.
The incident happened around 6 a.m. on Saturday, February 25th on the eastbound side of I-8 near McCain Valley Road, which is just north of Old Highway 80.
Police say the victim, identified as Dawn Michelle McDermott, had been riding with her family on the interstate when she tried to exit the moving vehicle. The driver stopped on the side of the road, at which point McDermott exited the vehicle and ran into the eastbound lanes of I-8. A vehicle struck McDermott, and she died at the scene of the crash.
A full investigation is underway.
