SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — A 62-year-old man died Saturday afternoon after a two-vehicle wreck on Interstate 15 near northwest Escondido, reports FOX 5 San Diego.
The fatal collision occurred on the northbound lanes south of Exit 37 to Deer Springs Road, in the Jesmond Dene area. It was first reported at around 2:16 p.m.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the victim was driving northbound when his vehicle was rear-ended by another vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. The impact of the crash caused the victim’s vehicle to lose control before flipping and landing on the interstate’s center median divider.
The victim, who was ejected from his vehicle, was pronounced deceased on the scene. No other occupants were in the vehicle at the time.
No information on the striking driver has been shared at this time, but the CHP said no other injuries were reported.
At this time, authorities have not indicated any pending charges.
