SAN DIEGO, CA – A pedestrian walking on I-8 was struck and killed by a vehicle that rolled over in northwest San Diego on Sunday.
According to a report by Fox 5 San Diego, the incident happened at about 3:15 p.m. in the westbound lanes of the freeway near the exit to Waring Road.
Investigators say the driver of a Mercedes-Benz slowed to avoid the man who was walking in the freeway and was rear-ended by a Chevrolet SUV. The impact caused the Chevrolet to overturn and hit the nearby pedestrian.
The unidentified pedestrian was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries a short time later. His identity is being withheld pending further investigation.
The Chevrolet’s driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
