News: Man struck, killed by vehicle on SR-78 in Vista

VISTA, CA – A man died Sunday morning after an alleged DUI driver hit him along a state highway in northwest San Diego County, reports the Times of San Diego.

The incident happened around 10:20 a.m. on the eastbound side of State Route 78 near South Emerald Drive.

Police say the victim was standing alongside his car in the center divider of the highway when a Buick Verrano hit him. The man died at the scene of the crash. Authorities have not yet released his identity to the public.

Officials arrested the driver of the Buick, identified as 22-year-old Isabella Herrera on several charges, including felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter. Herrera sustained non-critical injuries in the crash, which required hospitalization.
