News: Motorcyclist killed in 2-vehicle crash on SR-94 in Potrero

PORTERO, CA – A 37-year-old motorcyclist died in mid-February after colliding with a van on a state highway in south San Diego County, reports Fox 5 San Diego.

The incident happened around 8 p.m. on February 19th near the intersection of SR-94 and Bell Valley Truck Trail, which is just north of the U.S. border with Mexico.

Police say the victim’s Kawasaki motorcycle rear-ended a van as the latter vehicle slowed down on SR-94 to make a u-turn into the eastbound lanes of the highway.

The force of the collision threw the motorcyclist from their bike, and they died at the scene after becoming pinned beneath the van. Authorities identified the victim as Ellis James Woodall.

Nobody in the van reported injuries as a result of the crash.

A full investigation is underway.
