SAN DIEGO, CA – A scooter rider died Sunday night after a truck struck him on a roadway near the border in the Otay Mesa area, reports Fox 5 San Diego.
The incident happened around 8 p.m. on the northbound side of La Media Road, which is south of the Otay Mesa Freeway and west of the Otay Open Space Preserve.
Police say the 43-year-old victim fell from his Italika W150 motor scooter before the truck ran him over and fled northbound.
Authorities pronounced the victim dead at the scene of the accident.
A full investigation is underway.
