News: Troopers arrest alleged impaired driver for fatal crash in Escondido

ESCONDIDO, CA – According to KGTV, troopers arrested a suspected drunk driver following a fatal collision on I-15 near Deer Springs Rd Sunday.

Nicole Capatanos, 43, was driving a Ford Fusion when she strayed off the road and rolled multiple times. The vehicle landed on North Center City Pkwy around 12:54 a.m.

Emergency responders transported Capatanos to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and pronounced her 45-year-old male passenger dead at the scene of the accident.

Authorities arrested Capatanos and charged her with suspicion of driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter around 2:46 a.m.
