News: Victim identified in deadly crash on I-15 in Escondido

ESCONDIDO, CA – The San Diego County Medical Examiner released the identity of the man killed in a rear-end collision on I-15 in Escondido early Saturday. 

According to a report by Fox 5 San Diego, the crash took place just after 2 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the interstate near Deer Springs Road.

Police say a vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when it rear-ended another car driven by 62-year-old Antonio Mendoza, of Valley Center.

Despite life-saving measures, Mendoza was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is unclear at this time if the other driver involved will face any charges.
