Unfortunately, I get too many calls with clients who have been hit by a hit and run driver, meaning that the person hits them and they flee the scene. Now the number one person that we would want to go after for your damages is the person that hit you, but if the law enforcement can’t find that individual, there’s not enough evidence to find them, then the other avenue that you can go after is your own insurance through uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage, which is again another important reason why you should have that type of coverage on your insurance policy.
