Crash Between Motorcyclists Leaves One Injured

Market st motorcycle accident

An unusual hit-and-run crash left one San Diego man injured and another on the run after their motorcycles collided on Market Street during the evening of January 28.

According to police, the driver of a Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling east on Market Street in San Diego at approximately 10 p.m. An unknown individual, also on a motorcycle of uncertain make, suddenly collided with the first rider. Both were thrown from their bikes in the resulting accident.

The rider of the Harley Davidson suffered injuries requiring hospitalization, including a broken right leg. The other driver, however, quickly returned to their motorcycle and fled the scene. The unidentified injured man, age 20, could not provide police with a clear description of the other party. No other people were present to witness the incident. Police say the investigation into the hit and run remains ongoing.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, motorcyclists face a dramatically increased level of risk for injury or death in accidents compared to motorists — almost 30 times more likely, in fact. For individuals such as the San Diego man injured in the accident, though, such statistics don’t tell the whole story — in other words, what happens after a traffic crash involving injuries?

Following accidents, victims may face mounting medical bills, pain and suffering, and the loss of employment income. When the negligent actions of another party are to blame, individuals may seek compensation for the accident and their injuries through legal means. A motorcycle accident lawyer is an essential resource for exploring your options and understanding your rights.
