Should I Get Uninsured and or Underinsured Motorist Coverage?

Should I get uninsured and or underinsured motorist coverage?

Hi everyone! I want talk to you today about something that’s really important and that is why you should carry uninsured motorist coverage or underinsured motorist coverage.

My name is Adam Hepburn and I’m one of the car accident attorneys and a partner here at HHJ Trial Attorneys. I think that the easiest way to talk about why you should carry this type of insurance, or what’s called UMI for short, is to give you two different examples.

Example number one: You get into an accident, the other party is at fault, and you get really injured. You have bad medical expenses. You can’t work for six months. You’re in bad shape. But the party that hit you doesn’t have any insurance and you don’t have any UIM insurance. In that scenario, you get nothing. You are stuck with your damages, and you’re stuck with a very difficult life because you don’t have that sort of safety net.

Now scenario two: The same accident. The same person hits you. You have the same injuries, but you carry uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage. You can recover all of your medical expenses, all of your last wages, and your future lost wages as well as pain and suffering because you carried uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage.

As you can see, this makes a huge difference in how an accident can affect you, affect your life, and affect your family. So if you have any other questions, get in touch with us anytime. This is something that I love to speak with clients about to make sure that they protect themselves.
